Chalkboards- For Sale!

Chalkboards are now for sale!
We have different sizes, but if
you'd like one with custom
dimensions, let us know.
These are the perfect addition
to your kitchen!

Gemini Celebration

We celebrated Chris's birthday {!} at our house
on Saturday, during Memorial Day weekend.
It was a small party, which was perfect-
we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves
and our company~
I shot a few pictures of the prep and a few of
the yard, just for fun.  Happy Memorial Day
holiday, enjoy the incredible weather today!

Pumpkin pancakes using almond milk and coconut oil, cinnamon
and nutmeg...
breakfast in bed.

We found four wine barrels online and used them for the base of our outdoor patio table.  I've started a collection of random chairs to fill up the twelve-seater table, my favorite being the prayer chair below I found at an antique store on Portola {Clearwater Bazaar Antiques}.
The brick patio is almost complete!

A bouquet of nasturtiums from our garden highlights the wine table.
Chris made the black walnut mini cutting board for me to dice garlic on.  They are for sale!

I made a coconut lime cheesecake {by request of the birthday boy} with a gingersnap and shredded coconut crust and mango puree drizzled on top.  AND mini raspberry and blueberry cheesecakes- ooohh la la!

Sunday Morning

Meyer lemons are my favorite, and Chris's grandpa
has a tree full of them.  So I harvested and turned
them into lemon bread for Sunday morning
breakfast.  Just a few shots to share~ xx P

I always switch up my recipes, using substitutes like coconut flour or agave or honey.  This time I used 100% whole wheat flour, almond milk, and coconut oil.  The result was a much denser bread, but still so delicious, and with a tart lemon glaze on top.

Good morning

My critic approves!

Heart Full of Home

Today I snapped a few shots of what we've been
up to at Terrace this spring.
Maybe the images will move you somehow-
and inspire your own inner creativity~ xx P

The process of our backyard patio.

We have been given all of the bricks used so far- incredibly fortunate.
Picture: four twelve-foot posts with a wooden trellis overhead,
wisteria and grape vines growing, a table that seats twenty,
and candles in jars suspended from trees... soon!

The colors from our garden never cease to amaze me.
These chards are ready for the picking.

Although they look a bit little, these strawberries are the sweetest- sun ripened, deep red color, and so
very juicy.

Chris was sick of my jewelry taking up our closet space
{honestly so was I} and so made me these decorative earring
frames from old fence board and gold metal mesh.

I could wear a new pair of earrings every day for five months,
...and still I continue to collect more.

Flea Market Treasures

My two favorite places to shop in Santa Cruz are antique
stores and the flea market...
Ooooh the pearls you find at the flea are infinite!
If you're trying to re-design your space, this flea market is
a great place to start for inspiration, if nothing else.  And Fridays
are antique days!  But you have to be patient, and you have
to find the beauty in the discarded junk, and you have to
get there early. Here are some photos of what Chris and I
came home with last Sunday.

This half size wooden ladder {it might not even really be a ladder} was perfect for my
endless books and magazines I always keep near the bed.  It created a much more
organized space and I love its reclaimed look.

I looove these art nouveau candle holder/wall sconces.  They're wrought iron with
a beautiful green patina. We snagged two of them, a perfect pair.

I've decided to create a complimentary color scheme in each room of our home.  Although I'm not a fan of blue, I thought it would be fun to entertain the idea of the color.  I thought these old medicine bottles were a perfect element of design and color for the bedroom.

Our collection of hawk feathers.  I adore these little blue bottles.

This is an art piece I've loved for years: The Kiss by Gustav Klimt, c.1907.
Chris is going to re frame it in wood, I can't wait!

Clothing Exchange: Of Good for Better

A group of us girlfriends get together about every
three to six months {or when we're in need of
a few new threads} to swap out our old clothes
for new ones.  Its a great way- not to mention a
thrifty and free way- of creating an entirely new
wardrobe for yourself!
The skirt you loved two summers ago, but haven't
worn since, will be loved once again, and a new-
to-you pair of yoga pants are now your go-to's.

Left: Eva and Margo enjoy white wine and apps before the swap begins.
Right: Margo's spring bouquet.

The clothing exchange commences...

Silly girls

Silliest girls dressed in their best

A toast~ complete with red wine, luscious pineapple
+ rum cocktails, and strawberry short cake~

To good company,
To good food,
To great friends and old traditions,

AND TO GREAT CLOTHES.

Stone Muse

On our road trip, we snagged a few
souvenirs for the house.  The flat
rocks we found on Jalama Beach were too beautiful not to take
with us~
...HAD to have this triangle stone
for my jewelry.

An organic and unique look for our bathroom soap dish.

Last night we had cheese, fruit, a fresh baguette, and wine for dinner.. . .
<<< notice the new serving platters <3 >>>

Southerly Road Adventures

Spring break called for a road trip, so away we went.
Last year Chris and I took the coast up north to Point Arena, this year we traveled down the coast all the way to Newport Beach.  I've uploaded a few images that I found most inspiring, enjoy!

There were bushes of these pin cushion flowers all over Big Sur.
Their design amazed me!

We stumbled upon a spirit nest at an outdoor {spiritual, colorful, beautiful, otherworldly, theatrical} amphitheater
in Big Sur.

I am a lover of wild flowers...this is at The Top of the World in Big Sur- we were above the fog in our own secluded heaven.

Left: I've heard that a hawk feather finding is an offering~  Right: Simple melodies from Chris's Backpacker's guitar.

A view from above the fog

Chris shot a sequence of me running towards him, this is one of them.

We ended up camping out in a field of wild flowers our
first night, it was incredibly peaceful~
Room with a view.

Willow Creek Beach- we stopped for a potential surf,
but left uninspired.

Jalama Beach, a forgotten part of the California coast.  You must check this place out, it is by far the most serene camping I've done.

Wake up

A day at Newport Beach {Chris finally got his surf in}.

We found Verve coffee {specific to Santa Cruz and a personal favorite}
at a shop on State Street in Santa Barbara.
A shot to get us back on the road and back home, xx.

Happiest at Terrace Drive with our chocolate lab, Olive.
