Retail Therapy
Reclaimed wood is getting ever more popular,
and I'm noticing just how many retail stores are
utilizing it for product displays and shelving.
Alibi Interiors has teamed up with a few local
shops around Santa Cruz, building display tables
and other pieces to help emphasize and showcase
product.
Check out the photos below for more of what we're
talking about, and happy shopping!
Stripe on Walnut Avenue downtown Santa Cruz designed this beautiful shelf for their children's display corner of the store. Alibi Interiors brought it to life using old wood from a bait tank that floated for years off the coast of southern California.
Stripe's eye for stylish retro is by far the best in town!

One of the loveliest vignettes found at DIG on Water Street.
Their displays are right on time for the sweetest of days,
Valentine's Day. Glassless shadow boxes showcase
beautiful jewelry, perfumes, and the best cards in town.
A reclaimed wood farm table sits pretty at Old School Shoes downtown
Santa Cruz. They're moving towards a recycled contemporary /
old school {duh} look for their interior design, and doing a great job at it!
This circular table mimics a 1950's diner style table where waitresses
wore roller skates and served milk shakes, so old school.

Monday Escape
Alibi Interiors was signed on to build the furniture for Bonny Doon
Tasting Room, at their new and renovated location in Davenport.
We delivered the heavy, cumbersome, and extra long benches to
the tasting room this past Monday, and were rewarded with wine
and great company.
The drive back to Santa Cruz was a reward in itself- the sun setting
while the moon was rising felt otherworldly. Check out the photos
below- and if you're in the neighborhood, stop by, have a glass of
wine, unwind and enjoy the lovely farm furniture brought to you by
yours truly, Alibi Interiors.

Our Monday escape: wine tasting in the good company of
Bonny Doon Vineyards and their wonderfully relaxed staff.
The sunset in Santa Cruz. Something that will N E V E R get old.
And it's equally stunning other half, la luna.

This booth was for the Poppy Farm Fair at the Aptos Native Revival Nursery.
We listened to folky bluegrass music all day and enjoyed the company of dreadlocked goats.

One of my favorite craft fairs yet,
this set up was for Square Headquarter's
grand opening in San Francisco. The
event was complete with all the wine
you could drink, the best ahi poke I've
had since I moved from Kauai, and a
fifteen piece brass band. SUPERB.

These Beautiful Doors
I've never loved an old piece of wood as much
as these rusted patina boards. Chris salvaged
the marine wood from an old bait boat that was
destroyed in the tsunami off the coast of Japan.
Its been sitting in our yard, waiting for a project
worthy of its beauty, until I realized they would
make perfect doors to lead into our front yard.
The orange and blue compliments are to die for!
Another project complete, brought to you by The Alibi Interiors.

LinkedIn Collaboration
We've been very blessed to team up with
LinkedIn, and this is our third project
we've collaborated with them on {a fourth
project is underway!}. We've designed
and constructed a reclaimed wood wall
for the cafe at their headquarters in
Mountain View. We additionally worked
alongside an expert in vertical planting
where we fabricated reclaimed wood
borders for year round plants to live in,
and act as an art piece.
LinkedIn's staff has been absolutely
lovely to work with, especially my
friend Lauren Ng Pinkerton, whom we
owe this opportunity to!
Check out the photos below, and stay
tuned in for our next project with
LinkedIn.
Chris happy and surrounded by his wood element.

Measure twice, cut once.
The wood borders are an exclamation point to the already
highlighted living walls. The red plants came together to make a beautiful
chevron design, which will change with the seasons {i.e. poinsettias during Christmas}.
Chris happy and surrounded by his wood element.
Notice the light green moss on the lower left boards,
complimenting my green jacket of course..!
A panoramic of the finished product,

The Alibi is excited and happy
to announce that we are now
part of the Renegade Craft Fair!
Our first show was in Los Angeles
and we came home with a new
found knowledge of retail and the
art of craft fairing, a boost of orders,
and a pep in our step. Our next fair
is this weekend in San Francisco.
If you're in the city, come by and see
whats crafting. It is honestly like
Pinterest in real life. No kidding.

The Alibi Meets Wedding: LV + DK 2013
L O V E
This is the summer of love,
and I'm so happy to collaborate
with as many weddings as we have. Our first wedding was for Lani Virostko and Danny Kent, a pair of good friends of ours. The celebration was in Murphy's- the sweetest little rustic one-horse town, flooded with incredible local wine. Below are images of the amazing day, and a few of the products The Alibi supplied. A very happy congratulations to the new couple! xx P

Brian Friel of Young America Creative was the ingenious
mind behind hanging tumble weeds as chandeliers.
It was one of the most impressive design
elements of the wedding!
Each dinner table had three reclaimed wood succulent boxes, which stood for the center
pieces {stunning and simple}, as well as the guest gifts. People were thrilled to
take one home with them, and some snagged more than one! Flattery.
This was the bride and groom's personal table.
They sat lookin' pretty under a wrought iron arbor tangled in grape vines.
Champagne chalkboard signage from The Alibi.
The day was hotter than ever, but the bubbles helped immensely.
Wine chalkboard signage from the Alibi.
This might have been my favorite story-
Rustic barn background, metal cans full of wine with
an elaborate display of stemware, burlap table runners
and cloths; a total and complete cohesiveness was created
and it felt good to be part of it.
One of the many charming details of Murphy's:
an antique wagon for prisoners. I LOVE this stuff.
Another visual feast from Young America Creative. Brian designed Lani & Danny's guest sign-in as a piece of art. Framed by The Alibi, the collaboration
was superb.
The photographers, Still Music by Erin & Jeremy Hohengarten,
set up the ultimate photo booth. All frames by The Alibi, with
dried flower bouquets and string lights for ambiance, it was
a picture story every guest wanted to be a part of!
A hundred years of happy marriage and ever
lasting love to Lani and Danny~ xxo

NEW! Alibi Interior Creations
Chris and I have both been busy
with our latest orders, which just
seem to keep on coming.
Check out what we've been up to this spring!
with our latest orders, which just

Check out what we've been up to this spring!
Reclaimed wood farm tables and benches have been on high demand lately!
They are currently selling at Stripe downtown,
or you can place an order with us directly
at thealibi@live.com.
This is my succulent wheelbarrow
that I planted and was so proud of!
We placed it in our front yard and
have received many compliments
on it. You can plant an edible
garden in it as well- great space
saver with a beautiful aesthetic.
New shipment of wood!
These old fence boards take hours of prep before they can be used.
Nails are pulled and each board must be wire brushed. And,
depending on what they become (maybe a bench?) they take hours
of sanding down to make a smooth finish for your bum :)
The best pieces are the boards with moss or vines still growing
on them. I lalaloooove the raw and organic feel of these
ones and have a bad habit of keeping them for myself!
My latest favorite are these bird houses with succulent rooftops.
We make them exclusively for Hidden Garden Nursery in Aptos.
I recently gave one to my mom for Mother's Day and she was thrilled!
We have ours attached to our fence and it make for the perfect adornment.
Our storage shed is close to being complete (with reclaimed
wood siding, obviously, a corrugated tin roof, old original
Queen Ann windows from the house, and the same trim
color as our main house). Chris tacked this living succulent
frame up to see how the plants fared.
We're still experimenting with these pieces;
and are happy with the way they're turning out!
The frames are for sale at DIG on Water Street- support your local artist :)
